Yanagisawa SC-800 / SC-880 Curved Soprano Saxophone, Near Mint
Yanagisawa SC-800/SC-880 curved soprano saxophone. The serial number is 184,xxx, indicating that it was made in 1993. The condition is nearly perfect and shows little to no wear by the previous owner. There are no dents and only a small handful of superficial scratches in the lacquer coating, mainly around the neck strap ring. The previous owner recently overhauled the horn with black roo pads and rivetless domed metal resonators. The pads are in new condition, and sealing very well. My repairman regulated the sax prior to sale, but his work was minimal. This is as close to a new horn as you're likely to find from a horn of this vintage.
Yanagisawa has a reputation for making incredible sopranos, and I'd put this in the same category. The feel of a curved soprano is quite different than a straight soprano. The sound is a bit more thick and lush than what I've come to expect with most straight sopranos.
