Yanagisawa 880 Alto Saxophone, Just Serviced
1981 Yanagisawa 880 alto saxophone, s/n 107948. This was Yanagisawa's top of the line professional horn in the 1980's. This sax just received a full service from my tech. The pads are a mix, but they're still in good condition and have a lot of life left. The lacquer is original and approximately 40% remains. The neck is original to the horn and has never been bent down.
I really like this model. There's a compactness to the sound that reminds me a lot of a Mark VI. The tone is slightly on the dark side, yet still has excellent projection when pushed. This is an outstanding playing horn that is a terrific value in today's marketplace.
