Yamaha Allegro YTS-575AL Tenor Saxophone
Yamaha Allegro YTS-575AL tenor saxophone. If you're looking for a great horn under $2000, this one should be at the top of your list. Yamaha discontinued the 52 a few years ago and came out with this model, meant as an upgrade to that classic intermediate model. Interestingly, this sax is assembled in the USA, which to my knowledge, is the only line of saxophones that are assembled in the States. The sax comes with a G1 neck, which is the same neck that ships with the entry level pro Yamaha 62. The sax feels great to hold and has keywork similar to the top of the line Custom horns, a major upgrade from their student models. Although I don't have a 52 to play test this against, this feels like a slight upgrade from that horn, possibly due to the G1 neck. The sax has a more direct and focused sound than the Custom series, and plays very well in tune.
