1962 102,xxx Mark VI Alto Saxophone Near Mint, Overhauled, 99% ORIGINAL LACQUER
1962 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone, s/n 102,xxx. This is a single owner horn which looks like it has spent most of its life in its case, as one rarely sees a Mark VI in this good of condition. As you can see from the pictures, the lacquer is nearly perfect. There are no dents whatsoever. The neck is original to the horn and has the matching s/n.
The saxophone was just overhauled in 2015. It plays amazingly well, and has a very focused, full sound. It can whisper down to the low Bb. Given its little use, the saxophone still has the action of a newer saxophone. Everything feels crisp and tight.
In my opinoin, this is one of the best Mark VI's out there. It has an incredibly full, rich sound, and it is extremely easy to get around in all registers. I have really enjoy playing it since it's come back from the repair shop. When horns like this come along, it seems like a no brainer to take the plunge and get the real thing for only a bit more than a new Reference 54.
