1950 43,xxx Selmer Super Balanced Action Alto Saxophone, Video, Just Serviced
1950 Selmer Super Balanced Action alto saxophone, s/n 43244. This sax was just serviced by my repairman prior to sale. He replaced a couple of pads, the neck cork and several key corks. The sax is playing very well on an older set of pads. I suspect that this sax has an older relacquer, but it was done very well. There's no obvious place on the horn that looks like it's been relacquered, but the engraving is not quite as deep as you'd expect it to be for an original lacquer horn.
This is an outstanding playing SBA. It is more assertive and colorful than most I've ever tried, and I think it would make a great lead alto saxophone. There's some great pop and projection
The sax is in great shape overall. The neck is original and has a matching serial number. It has never been pulled down. There are no resolders and zero dents or dings. The sax comes in a hard shell case.
