149,xxx Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone
1967 149,xxx Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone. Tenors from this serial number range are a fantastic value, and tend to be incredible playing horns. They often have the best qualities of both early and late Mark VI's. There's incredible focus and tone, reminiscent of earlier vintages, but there's some extra power and pop in the sound that this vintage captures. Plus, they tend to take on air in a very natural and efficient way. All in all, this is a wonderful vintage to try out if you're not dead set on a 5-digit horn.
This sax was just serviced by my tech prior to sale, and the pads are sealing well and the horn plays from top to bottom very well. This sax was passed on to me from the son of the previous owner, who was a NY pro. The sax appears to have non-original lacquer, but the job was done well. As you can see, most of the lacquer has worn off from honest playing. The sax comes in a rigid form fitting case.
